Program
Tour begins in Orvieto
DAY 1 – Arrival in Orvieto (Umbria).
Check in and welcome drink at the hotel. Tour begins with a guided walking tour of town and visit of the Duomo with its Signorelli’s San Brizio Chapel frescoes. Dinner party together in a typical restaurant in the historic center.
DAY 2 – Guided tour of the medieval quarter, the oldest part of the city, then a guided tour of a great underground locations (Pozzo della Cava, since 2023 included in the Global Network of Water Museums of the UNESCO-IHP program). Then a group activity, the “Etruscan banquet”, an amazing way to know and taste ancient etruscans habits and foods).
DAY 3 – Road trip to the north of Lazio visiting Bomarzo and the 16th century Monster Park built in an Etruscan Sacred Area. Then stop in a traditional winery for a light lunch paired with local wines and then transfer to Bolsena lake, (the largest volcanic origin lake in Europe), free time for lunch and visit this nice town. Group dinner in Orvieto with traditional menu.
DAY 4 – Free day in Orvieto. City pass for visiting all the other city attractions and museums on your own or shopping in the city.
Bus transfer to Sovana/Pitigliano (Tuscany)
DAY 5 – We leave Orvieto. next tour destination is the Tuscany lowlands. Here the tour starts with a guided walking tour of Pitigliano and its incredible “Vie Cave”. Afternoon trip to the typical village of Sovana, with its charming Medieval square and streets. Arrive and settle into our elegant country resort in Sovana. Group dinner with traditional tuscan menu.
DAY 6 – Day trip southbound to Tarquinia, two of the major Etruscan cities of Southern Etruria located near the Tyrrenian coast. Here we have a guided visit of the stunning frescoed tombs in Tarquinia (Unesco site) and the city Etruscan museum. Lunch is on your own in Tarquinia.
DAY 7 – Day trip to the Mediterranean Sea! Visit to the tuscan town of Orbetello and its great lagoon. Typical group lunch at the sea, then afternoon on the way back to the sulfur natural waterfalls of Saturnia. Return to our property for dinner.
Bus transfer to Cortona (Tuscany)
DAY 8 – Leave Pitigliano. Drive through the wonderful landscape of Valdorcia (Unesco site) to Bagno Vignoni and Pienza for a walking tour and some free time in the Middle Ages. Group lunch in a typical tuscan village. Arrive and settle in Cortona, the town of “Under the Tuscan Sun” as well as a Northern Etruscan city!
DAY 9 – Walking guided tour of Cortona followed by a great group lunch in the center of Cortona. Free afternoon and evening in town. Dinner is on your own in Cortona.
DAY 10 – Road trip to and walking tour of Arezzo (Antiques Fair). We will explore the pretty town of the Casentino area, enjoy its crafts and architecture. Free time and light lunch at an ancient local winery (wine tastings and italian snack served). Return to Cortona. Dinner is on your own in Cortona.
DAY 11 – Drive around the Trasimeno Lake in the north of Umbria with a gelato stop. Walking guided tour of the umbrian village of Castiglione del Lago. Lunch is on your own at the lake. in the afternoon free time or in option visit to an outlet village (with several famous italian fashion brands) for shopping. Final group dinner in Cortona.
DAY 12 – Tour over after breakfast. We’ll help you make arrangements for post-tour transportation
